Reflection, Power, and the Years That Build Us
Time feels different lately. More accelerated. More layered.
As I sit in reflection at the close of 2025, I find myself contemplating not just what happened this year—but how I saw it while I was living it. The past months have been some of the most intense of my life. In September, my mother was in and out of the hospital, on the edge of death. In October, she moved in with me, and since then I’ve been caregiving for her full-time. What initially felt like a burden slowly revealed itself as a profound blessing—one that challenged and grew us both in ways I could not have anticipated.
And yet, in the midst of it all, I noticed something important. I began seeing myself as a victim of my circumstances rather than remembering my power to shape my experience. That subtle shift distorted the way I perceived the entire year. It colored my interpretation of 2025, narrowing my vision to what felt heavy, hard, or unfinished. This is so easy to do.
When difficult moments arise, they can eclipse everything else—causing us to write off an entire year through the lens of challenge alone. But when I slowed down, reflected, and allowed myself to truly look back, a different story emerged. I was amazed by all that was created, experienced, and lived.
I opened my journal and began anchoring memories: favorite moments, meaningful connections, accomplishments, lessons learned. I reflected on 25 memories, 25 achievements, 25 lessons from the year—and there were many. Threads I never would have connected in the moment revealed themselves in hindsight.
Because of that, this happened…
Because I let go here, something new emerged…
In the moment, it rarely makes sense. And often, it doesn’t feel good. But looking back, the coherence of the divine design in our lives becomes undeniable.
My context for 2025 was Creation. And while I initially focused on everything I didn’t create or achieve, reflection reminded me of just how much did come into being. This is the power of reflection. Until we pause to look back—to witness our growth, our resilience, our becoming—we risk dismissing the very moments that build self-trust and belief. Reflection isn’t optional. It’s essential. It is how we integrate our experiences and strengthen our sense of self.
Years Build. Time Compounds.
I used to see the New Year as a starting line—a clean slate that somehow erased everything that came before it. But now I understand something different. The finish line of one year is the starting line of the next. Endings and beginnings coalesce. A mentor once reminded me that years build on one another—that nothing is wasted, and everything serves a purpose. From this perspective, I can see that clearly.
Creating Connection and Community
This year, I built deeper connection and community—both locally in Santa Fe and within my online Mastermind. 2025 was a foundation-building year. A year of letting go, shedding, and completing cycles. It didn’t always feel good, but it was necessary. It was preparing me—and those I walk alongside—for who we are becoming.
My deepest wish for you is that you allow yourself to reflect on 2025 with honesty and compassion. That you remember your strength. That you recognize your power—not just in what you created, but in how you showed up.
